Science proves that single, childless women are happier

Research on the subject confirms this theory.

Happiness is subjective, as everyone achieves it in different ways and with completely other things, which means that what pleases one person does not necessarily satisfy another; however, it has been proven that not having children or not getting married can be a good way to grow emotionally.

While it is true that some people get the most out of their lives by starting a family, the independence and freedom that comes with being single are inexplicable to many.

To put these situations on solid ground, Pauls Dolan, professor of behavioural sciences at the London School of Economics, researched to establish a link between how success is measured, the possibility of attaining happiness, and the shared status of parenthood and marriage.

The study was based on data from the Time Use Survey conducted in the United States, which collected information on the participants’ health habits, well-being, and quality of life over a while.

The results were conclusive since they indicated that the group of women of different ages who did not have children and never married maintained a healthier and happier life, probably because they did not have to go through so many stressful and anxious situations; this was because they presented the best indices of well-being.

Dolan, for her part, left in the interview the influence of marriage on women’s health, which can deteriorate with weddings; in fact, she pointed out that middle-aged women who got married develop physical and mental problems more often due to the apparent discomfort generated with their partner and emotional wear and tear, which results in a shorter life expectancy.

But don’t worry. This doesn’t mean that you have to stay alone all your life. Some experts also say that interaction with other individuals is important for overall well-being, especially if it involves loving bonds, where you can test your capacity for compassion, generosity, gratitude and empathy.

The only important thing is to learn to recognize what is good for you and what can have great meaning in your life and to know how to manage your emotions to experience true happiness.
