Hello Survivors,
Movie ticket prices have skyrocketed in recent years, so it’s no surprise that most of us prefer Netflix or HBO to watch the latest movies.
But if you are a moviegoer who still enjoys the immersive cinematic experience, there are simple ways to recreate it at home. Whether you’re preparing cocktails in the style of Sex and the City or constructing a living room fort for a movie night, you’re always up to something.
Nothing is better than inviting your pals home for a movie night when it is chilly outdoors. These are a few of the best suggestions for arranging a fantastic movie night at home.
1. Prepare a few snacks before the film.
If you were going to the movies, you would eat dinner first, so serve your guests something simple. The last thing you want is for your guests to fall asleep in the middle of the movie, so you’ll want to prepare this in advance and choose a recipe that provides enough sustenance without being too heavy.
A delicious chicken salad, a healthy soup, or tacos are all terrific options that will not leave your guests wanting an after-dinner snooze.
2. Bring additional seating.
Seating is crucial when watching a film, as comfort is paramount. Only some of us have couches that can accommodate up to three people.
Invest in comfortable chairs that can be easily retrieved from other areas of your home. If you lack the funds for chairs, opt for extra-large poufs. As long as your guests can lean against a wall or piece of furniture, a scattering of cushions on the floor will suffice as seats.
3. Make yourself cozy with blankets and cushions.
Provide several blankets to your guests to keep them cozy. Several retailers provide affordable cushions and blankets. Choose those with sufficient thickness.
A few modest pillows will also give your guests a comfortable area to lay their heads. If you are viewing a suspense film with tense moments, kids will appreciate having something to hide beneath.
4. Be sure to bring popcorn
During a movie night, if there is one item you must be careful with, it is popcorn.
Or, for convenience, pick up some pre-packaged bags at the supermarket. I must decide whether sweet or salty popcorn is superior, so please supply both varieties.
Make sure to place a single bowl of popcorn in the middle of the room. Otherwise, your guests will continually vie for a handful during the film. Instead, have visitors split bowls or seek out retro-style popcorn containers with striped designs.
5. Set up a refreshment area.
The issue with salty popcorn is that it might cause thirst, so ensure you and your guests have easy access to beverages.
Wherever possible, please set up a beverage station on a cart or side table that everyone can access. Give ample quantities of both water and soft drinks.
Add beer and wine to the menu if your companions are not driving. Even beverages might be prepared during the intermission.
6. Reduce the brightness
Prepare the lighting for the upcoming movie night if there are no dimmers on the overhead lights, set up table and floor lamps to provide enough ambient lighting to create an ambiance without completely darkening the room.
It pays to install a dimmer as a long-term solution. Installing one to your existing lighting scheme is simple, but you should choose a licensed electrician. Alternatively, you can manually attach a dimmable bulb to your lamp.
7. Allow a discussion following the film.
You should discuss the film if there is time after the credits. Set a comfortable area around a table for examining the cinema or catching up on the latest gossip!
After reading all these tips, you and your guests have nothing left to do but sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie, Survivors.
